Peter A. Lewis is a visual artist who lives and works in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago,

Peter’s distinctive personal style expresses the vibrant spirit, colors and atmosphere of the Caribbean culture.

He uses both oil and acrylic on canvas and specializes in bold colors and abstract imagery. Peter’s creations symbolize a universal message for everyone to interpret. 

Peter earned a Fine Arts Degree from Montgomery College. During his time at Montgomery College, he not only earned various awards and recognitions, but also Peter received a scholarship to visit China in 2008 to study. 

Lewis’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions in Maryland, Washington, DC and Cancun, Mexico, including Gateway’s Heliport Gallery, The Manuel Zapata Olivella Center, CAT Gallery, Art-Enables, Dance Place’s Studio 21, Mayorga Coffee Factory, Qualia Coffee Shop, and more. His work has also been commissioned for an Airbnb in Cancun, Mexico and a sidewalk mural by Montgomery College. In addition to exhibition showings, Peter’s work has been featured in several publications including Tikkun Daily Magazine and the Sligo Journal of Arts &  Letters.

Building and supporting community is a foundation of Peter A. Lewis’s work. Teaching is a part of his process and allows him to share the beauty of art with others. Peter has led workshops for Art Enables in Washington, DC, an Art Gallery and Vocational Arts program dedicated to creating opportunities for artists with disabilities. He has also worked with Dance Place in Washington, DC on public art displays and community workshops. Peter has had a presence at various D.C. Farmers Markets and community gatherings to both showcase his art, as well as stay connected to the community by engaging in conversation, sharing resources and sharing his passion.
